Accreditation

The King's Academy is accredited by the S.C. Independent Schools Association (SCISA), Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), and AdvancED.

TKA received its first accreditation from SCISA in 1991 and is re-evaluated for re-accreditation every three years. The King's Academy received re-accreditation in April 2012.

Grading                                          

The King's Academy has adopted the State of South Carolina's Uniform Grading Policy. An average of points is used in determining grade point averages. Grades earned in all classes are used to compute GPA's that appear on the transcript.

B - 80 - 89 
C - 70 - 79
D - 60 - 69 
F - 0 - 59

 

Graduation Requirements

To be eligible to graduate from The King's Academy, a student must earn 24 units consisting of academic credits, elective credits, and a Bible credit for each year a student attends TKA.
In the Math and English departments, students have the option of enrolling in either the college prep track or the honors track.

Testing

All applicants to the kindergarten program are given a Kindergarten Readiness Test. All applicants to first grade are given a School Readiness Test. Students in grades 1-8 take the TerraNova 3. Additionally, students in 3rd, 5th, and 7th grades take the Abiltiy Test associated with the TerraNova 3. These tests serve to strengthen our curriculum and meet each student’s individual needs. 

Kindergarten students take the Metropolitan Readiness Test in the spring to determine readiness for first grade.

In the Upper School, the PSAT is administered to the 9th and 11th graders. A semester of SAT prep is offered to assist students in their performance on the SAT. 

 

Student Records Requests

The Guidance Department processes copies of student transcripts and other student records. Records will be mailed unless otherwise noted. On average, student records requests are processed in 3 to 5 business days.

There is a $5 processing fee for student transcripts and other student records. Send request to kholmes@tkaflorence.com: incl. Student Name, Year of Graduation, Address of where transcript or records should be sent.  Payment to TKA Guidance 1015 S. Ebenezer Rd. Florence, S. C. 29501 will be expected prior to transcript process.

 

Diplomas

The King's Academy does not handle duplicate high school diplomas. Duplicate Diploma's may be obtained only from the South Carolina State Department of Education.
